Brick 10-Day Challenge
We spend an average of four hours a day on our phones — that’s nearly 60 full days a year. Our 10-Day Challenge is designed to help you build healthy digital habits in your everyday life and reclaim that time. Whether you're striving to be more present with your family, be more productive at work, or anything in between, we're here to help you do that. Over the next 10 days, you'll reflect about your current digital habits and take action to do more of what matters. Let's get started!
Day 1: Set Your Intentions
Setting your intention helps you replace autopilot scrolling with mindful use. Start by reflecting on how you currently use your phone: when you wake up, do you immediately grab your device to scroll? Do you reach for it when you’re bored or need something to do? Do notifications pull you away from what you were already doing? Once you’ve identified the times your phone distracts you most, choose one time of day (work, evening family time, bedtime, etc) to protect using your Brick:
Set up a Mode that includes your most distracting apps during that time
Schedule that Mode to start whenever works best for you
✅ Start your 10 day streak by Bricking your phone on Day 1 using your new Mode and Schedule!
Day 2-3: Brainstorm Alternatives to Scrolling
Now that you have a Mode and Schedule set up, create a list of 5-10 alternative activities you can look to when you have the urge to scroll. By preparing alternatives, you’re retraining your brain to reach for what nourishes you instead of what distracts you. Some ideas to get you started: Read a book, journal, cook a meal, play a board game with your family, clean out your closet, and so many more.
✅ Keep your list handy in a convenient location
✅ Continue your 10 day streak
Day 4-7: Finish Out Your First Week Strong
Over the next few days, adjust your Mode and Schedule as needed, but stay consistent and keep logging your Bricked hours. Each time you resist the urge to Unbrick, you’re doing more than just avoiding screen time — you’re retraining your brain to feel comfortable without constant stimulation. This helps you build focus, patience, and a deeper sense of calm. When you choose something from your alternative list instead of scrolling, you’re replacing distraction with meaningful action — activities that recharge you, strengthen relationships, and bring you real satisfaction.
Reflect on how it feels to have been productive and done something for yourself instead of losing time to your phone. These small, repeated choices are what turn into lasting habits that give you back control of your time and attention.

✅ Check some activities off the list you created
✅ Continue your 10 day streak
Day 8-10: Keep the momentum going!
You’ve made it through your first week of healthier digital habits! By now, you’ve likely noticed positive changes: maybe you feel more focused, more present, or simply more at ease when you’re not glued to your phone. This is your opportunity to build on that progress and make your new habits even stronger.
If you focused on one area during the first week — like your bedtime routine — try shifting your attention to a different part of your day, such as your work hours or time with family. The goal for these final days is to create a robust Mode and Schedule system that supports multiple moments of your day with intention and balance.
Choose an additional time of day to protect
Create a new Mode that fits the needs of that time
Schedule your new Mode so it automatically starts when you need it most
Each new Mode you create strengthens your ability to shape your environment instead of being shaped by it.
✅ Open the Activity page in your Brick app and see how your Bricked hours have grown
✅ Continue your streak beyond the challenge
You’ve proven that change is possible — now keep the momentum going beyond the Challenge and continue to do more of what matters.
Thank you for being part of the Brick community and completing our 10-Day Challenge! We'd love to hear about how you've built new digital habits - you can reach us at hello@getbrick.app
